Getting Wet.

Yesterday, after Harper got on the bus, I headed to the basement to do my PT exercises and hit the rower.  I start with a sweatshirt on as it's cold down there.  It doesn't stay on long...

Always amazed what 5000 meters feels like and how much it makes me sweat.

That evening after a quick meal with two of the kids (Wednesday's are nuts) I headed out to Sand Prairie to do a lap on all the trails and maybe hit up the swamp.  Sand Prairie is pretty exposed so I was planning on lots of wind blown section.  While they were there most were very rideable, only minimal walking.

I've usually, by this time in the year, have done lots of riding on the swamp section but we've had warmer temperatures and more snow thus keeping me off the ice.  I ventured on yesterday and was stoked to find it all rideable!  The swamp is divided by a section of reeds near the south side.  The past years I've managed to make a path through them, opening up the other side.  I've also have fallen through as the swamp gas and air gaps from snow getting trapped among the reeds prevents freezing. So I was going to be careful...
Hard to tell but my front wheel went though then my feet.  It's only a foot or so deep so nothing to really worry about.  But it was enough to freeze my front brake and get water into my Wolvhammer boots.  The new Wolvhammers are pretty amazing.  Even with wet feet they stayed warm the rest of my ride, another hour.

 Ride details.

Once home I realized a potential problem with the new Boa closure system on the Wolvhammers, they freeze shut!  It took about 10 minutes to warm them up to get them off.  Nonetheless I love the Wolvhammer boots and still a fan of Boa.  Realistically I shouldn't be getting the boots fully emerged in water on most rides...hopefully.

The drying process.  Plus my bike is in the laundry room drying as well.

I'm off today and have word the Benton County trails are good.  The plan is to head that way.  The original plan was to ride the Dirt Bag course on the fat bike but it's been years since the trails that way have been rideable.  Get while the gettin is good.
