Friday night the MMCC (Mid MN Cycling Club) hosted a full moon fat bike ride. Ride temperature was hovering right around zero. I knew some people would show but I never thought 20! So cool.

The ride broke into a a few groups as we took off down the trail. I know I keep saying it but the North Loop is running so good right now! After a loop, including Friedrich, most went on their way. Jim, Charlie, Connor and I went out and did another loop. After that loop it was Jim and I. Shockingly, as he hates it, Jim suggested we hit up Sand Prairie. I couldn't turn that down! Honestly, it wasn't as nice as I remembered it. The much cooler temps made all the foot prints solid, thus pin balling the bike everywhere. Still fun though.

After Sand Prairie we made it over to the Race Track and back up through Riverside. I headed home with 3.5 hours and 33 miles. Such a good time riding.
Saturday plans for an afternoon group ride fell through so I headed out in the morning. Starting temp was -10. Not super cold but cold enough to try out my new 45Nrth bib tights and pants.
All geared up.
First impressions of the bibs and pants is good. The thighs and butt stayed warm but not too warm. Biggest bonus is the pants stayed put without the need of suspenders! Also, taking a nature break doesn't require an act of God.
The Birthday Tree on Time Waster. If you'e in the know then you know there are sometimes cupcakes hidden behind the tree.
Sunday I wanted a bit longer of a ride but Harper was running a temp while the other girls had to help setup for gymnastics. Thus my ride was altered. I did a similar ride to Saturday but this time with Jim. I usually try to avoid the same trails two days in a row but riding with someone totally changes the mentality. Somewhat like riding at night vs. daytime.
I piled on almost 21 hours of riding for the week for 198 miles. Fat bike riding is so different that any other riding. 21 hours during the summer would easily be 350+ miles. My head and whiplash seem to be handling the riding very well. I'm stoked.
I'm hoping for another week like last week then it will be "taper" time for the Arrowhead on January 28th.
Happy Week.
