Night Rides

Monday afternoon/evening I got dinner ready, popped it in the oven to stay warm, and headed out for a spin on the fat bike.  Initially my thought was to hit up all the south side (which happens to be all our fat bike trails) but later opted out of Sand Prairie and save that for Tuesday. So it was the River Bluffs, Time Waster, Plum Creek, the Race Track, The North Loop, and Fred Park.  It really was a gorgeous night.  Great temps, low winds, and hard trails.  I even ran into Kurt Franke out exploring Fred Park.

Remnants from the quarrying days at Friedrich Park.

Tuesday it was a bit of the same routine at home but I needed to get Harper to class and be home in time to pick Avery up from gymnastics at 8.  So with dinner staying warm in the oven I was off to the Race Track, Sand Prairie, the North Loop, and Fred Park.  Rough trails usually don't bother me much.  Not sure why, maybe because it's what I started fat biking on so many years ago.  Thus Sand Prairie usually isn't an issue for me.  Last night, however, it seem exceedingly rough.  I hadn't planned on doing laps on the swamp but opted for a few laps as a reprieve from the foot prints.  Despite the roughness I did all the trails and still had a good time.

Getting fancy with the photos on the swamp at sunset.

After Sand Prairie I headed Prison Hill to the North Loop.  In the past no one was out riding at night. But both nights this week I've ran into others riding, so cool!  This time I chatted with Dan and Lyndsey in Maxx's Option.  I saw Dylan's car there plus Strava showed me a couple others I missed.  Crazy.  I still think my favorite is Fred Park.  I just love it over there, even though it's short.  Maybe because it was flooded all summer so it still as a "newness" to it.

Tonight the temp is dropping and the wind is howling.  Tomorrow we are not supposed to get about 0, plus the wind.  Not sure on my plans to ride at this time.  We've had a mild winter and I'm soft!  Now it's time for 5000 meters on the rower.
