Solid Weekend.

Saturday I was out riding by 8:15 on the Evergreen.  Shorts, long sleeve jersey, and fingerless gloves. Sun was out!  It was a bit chilly at the start but warmed up quickly.  I jumped on the the Dirt Bag, doing a combination of routes from years past.  Even though rain messes up riding we really could use some.  The gravel is super dusty and starting to get sandy in many of the corners.  The Dirt Bag route is usually hero gravel for a good chunk of the ride but even the DB has fallen to wash board roads and sandy corners.

I was feeling very good on the ride.  It helped that the wind wasn't too bad and later all at my back.  The hills seemed smaller and the pedals turned much easier than previous rides.  It's great when it all clicks.

First snake sighting of the year.  I actually turned back around and snapped a pic to send to Mike as he hates snakes!
The ride.

Back home I grabbed a quick bike and headed to hike Friedrich Park with the family.  It's drying up quite nicely but the main loop still has a big puddle.  Easy to bypass on foot but not so much on a bike.  Back home I jumped right into yard work.  4.5 hours later we were done and I was shot.  Working different muscles than biking muscles put this guy out!  I was ready for bed.

Sunday I got off about an hour later than Saturday.  This time on the Moots.  The wind was E/SE switching to S.  I hadn't been down to the Luce Line yet this year so that was my plan.  The first part was more pavement than gravel.   Nearing Howard Lake I headed east on gravel.  This gravel was thick and loose.  I was getting tossed all over.  Again 700x35 tires are blah.

Made it to the Luce Line.

I took the Luce Line to Winsted where I headed north.  I eventually started a west, north route back home.  More gravel, but loose and deep.  I also hit two separate rain showers.  I left in full sun but now it was rather cloudy.  Not wanting to hit more rain than I had to I started to push the pedals harder than I normally wood.  But I was with the wind and feeling good.  Of course once home the skies mostly cleared and St. Cloud received no rain.

The ride.

The rest of the day/night was spent vacuuming, mopping, making dinner and a Target run.  A solid, fun weekend.

I tentatively planned to ride this morning but knew we had a chance at rain.  At 5 I woke to rain and maybe thunder, maybe I dreamt that.  I shut my alarm off and tossed and turned till I just got up.  The road are still wet but full sun now.  Maybe a short spin tonight.  Tomorrow is a full day of rain.  It's much needed so I hoping it happens.

Happy Week.
