Maybe it's always windy and I'm just getting soft? When I left for my ride yesterday morning the wind was already in the double digits out of the NW, my least favorite direction. I dislike NW winds as there really isn't too much room for route deviation until much later in the ride. Also, as I've stated before, the return always seems to lead me to Holdingford or, as in yesterday, the Wobegon Trail. Nonetheless I pushed the pedals with my head down for 3 hours into the wind. Not getting any rain in a long time has the gravel starting to get pretty soft, loose, deep, etc. Despite all that complaining I did have fun and was stoked I was able to be out riding.
The return was much speedier due to the tailwind. I tried to take a somewhat different way home once I was near St. Cloud. I ran into construction, which forced me to double back and head further south than intended. No matter it was a good ride!
Blogger isn't letting me upload photos at the moment so ride details: 100ish miles a tad under 6 hours.
I took the Moots once again. Since I've upgraded to Moots to more comfortable handlebars (that can also accept aerobars), AXS shifting, and 42mm tires it's become a new machine! Poke fun all you want at the use of aerobars but I love them. Especially on windy, solo days.
I do have the Cutthroat back as an option. I was having a knocking in the crank/BB area. I switched out the BB twice, tried a different rear wheel, triple checked the chainring, used different pedals, and more. Decided it was the crank (Race Face Next SL). Ordered up a Race Face Turbine. Once installed the knocking was gone. My guess is the pedal insert has started to delaminate from the carbon. It's on it's way back to Race Face.
This morning is gorgeous. Almost chilly and low winds out of the NE. I'll be out before 6 for a couple hour spin.
Not sure what's up for the weekend. My folks cabin may be an option or staying around home and getting the rest of our planting done. Either way the weekend is looking good!
