Week of Wind.

Man, last week sure seemed windier than normal.  Toss in dropping temps and that wind had a bite.  Friday was such a day plus it snowed!  I didn't get out till 4:30 for a ride.  Wanting to dodge the wind I grabbed the Spearfish and hit the woods of the North Loop.

We have a leaf issue!

Because of the snow in the morning and all the leaves I couldn't take the corners too fast or I'd slip out.  It was still a good time and glad I got out.

Saturday the wind actually took a bit of break in the morning!  Plus the winds were out of the East later changing to the W/NW.  I gambled and went with the wind, albeit low, and headed West on the Cutthroat. It's silly, I guess, but having the bigger tires on the Cutthroat has me searching out gnarly roads.  I managed to find a couple good ones on this ride.
The Ride.
The wind really picked up during the ride, both head and tailwinds.
No speed records were set.

From the pic you can see we also have a leaf problem!  After the ride I mulched then bagged the backyard.  All my oak leaves are down, still waiting on a couple maples and the apple trees.

Sunday I was all ho hum about riding.  The wind was strong out of the W/NW.  I took the Cutthroat and headed East before going North to avoid taking the same NW route.  The plan was 50-60 miles.  For the first hour I didn't think I'd even make that.  But once I hit gravel the fun began.  Morrison County has a bunch of minimum maintenance roads.  I hit a few of those up.  Many of them are sandy, which is usually an issue with 700x38 tires.  But the 2.25" tires made a huge difference.  Again I wasn't going fast but I was having fun!
At every road I thought I should turn for home I was a kid avoiding going to bed, just one more section!  Next thing I know I'm crossing highway 27, the road that runs into Little Falls.  Hmm, further North than anticipated.  May as well make it a "ride" now!
At Feedehm I started making my way West.  I crossed 371 at Camp Ripley and took the West side of the Mississippi home.
The Ride.

The plan was to do the front yard leaves but none of my neighbors had touched theirs so I decided to wait till next weekend.

Nice and chilly this morning, 22 degrees.  It keeps changing but we are slotted for anywhere from 3-8" of snow tomorrow.  Ugh.  I love snow but not in October.  It's just makes a mess of things.  Because of the looming snow I'll take a spin this morning...yep, on the Cutthroat.  Mostly because I have mtb pedals on that bike so I can use my 45Nrth boots.

Happy Week.
