Weekend in a time warp.

Sometimes weekends are too fast.  Monday already.

Saturday morning it was threatening rain as it was forecasted too. I waited till 8:30 before starting to make banana bread, didn't want to wake the troops.  Later it was a power hour of cleaning.  The rain never came so I headed out on the mtb around 11.  I hit up all the loops minus Quarry Park.  River Bluffs, Plum Creek, Race Track, Sand Prairie, North Loop, and Friedrich Park.  Man it was a blast.  Made me excited for fat biking and winter, but not yet.  Hoping for a solid Fall.

The Ride.

Sunday I planned to get out earlier.  But the temperature was 27, doubling by rides end.  I can always shed clothing throughout the ride but what a pain.  But mostly it was due to the thick fog that I waited on, till a bit past 9 to head out.

This time I was on the Cutthroat.  I started on the Dirt Bag route but really just used it to get South.  Any section that deviated from that was skipped.  Past the Southern reaches of the Dirt Bag I pushed on to Waverly.  I contemplated turning back here but headed South and West some more before taking the turn North.

It was a really good ride.  I can't quite put my finger on it.  I wasn't feeling super fresh nor was I setting any speed records.  Maybe it was just peaceful?  I didn't encounter many cars, the wind wasn't creating a hurricane of noise in my ears, and the temperature was damn near perfect for the kit I was wearing.  Nonetheless as great ride.

The Ride.

For dinner I decided to make a pasta dish using up some onions and squash for our CSA.  I'm not a fan of squash but love it in this dish.  I needed some kale so it was a quick trip to Target.  And yes trips to Target can be fast if you don't bring Jen!
I always forget how long it takes to caramelize onions!  Then I decided to double the amount so we'd have leftovers.  We didn't have a pot big enough to mix it all together with so I had a damn mess going on.  Not to mention the sweat.  Standing over the oven with two burners and the oven on I was dying.  But all worth it!  So good.

Trust me, that is a ton of food!

Feeling a bit slow today.  Once Harper is on the bus I may hit up the North Loop a bit or just head into work.  Not sure yet.  Temperatures this week are rebounding.  As long as it's cool at nigh I'm good with that!
