70's and Wind.

Toby woke me up 4:45 on Saturday.  Ugh.  But it wasn't all bad as it got me out the door early enough to beat some of the wind.  I'm guessing I was on my bike (Evergreen) by 6:45 or so.  The wind was straight South.  I started out with the Dirt Bag route but when it started going more East than South I jumped ship and kept going South.

On a side note I've been very lucky with flats this year.  Until recently.  I had two last week and a few in October.  Rather early on in my ride I felt my legs getting sprayed with sealant.  I located the hole and jammed a plug into it.  I can't believe it took me till this year to start using plugs.  Amazing.  This one was from Lezyne.  My favorite are from Stan's.

My plan was to cross State Hwy 12 and make my way West and then North.  I crossed 12 at Waverly.  I contemplated going to the Luce Line and taking that to Winsted and then North but checking the time I opted to pass on that.  By this time the wind was whipping.  The tailwind was glorious.

I made sure to bypass Howard Lake as I always seem to cross 12 there.  Instead I went a bit more West before jumping on Keats Road.  Keats is a gravel road that runs parallel to county road 6.  At times it appears to end when it comes to a "T" but looking at my Garmin I could find it a bit to the West or East.

The Ride.

Amazing temperatures!  Short sleeve jersey and bib shorts the entire ride in November!  While it's great I am ready for the cool down this week.
The rest of the day was spent doing yard work.  Late afternoon/early evening Jen's folks, my folks, and us sat in our backyard and had Bravo Burritos.  Another benefit of this late, warm weather.

I hoped to sleep in some on Sunday but Toby had me up a bit before 5.  He gets up, pees, eats, and is back sleeping in about 5 minutes.  Once I'm up...I'm up.  Damn dog! Ha!

The wind was already at 15 mph.  I saw this morning out top wind gust was 46 mph.  A good day to mountain bike.  I hit up: River Bluffs, Plum Creek, Talahi Woods (lots of thorns), the Race Track, North Loop, and Friedrich Park.  For whatever reason I was thoroughly enjoying myself.  One of my best rides in sometime.  No agenda, just riding.
Alway a good spot to take a picture. Early morning.

The Ride.

Again, after the ride, I did yard work...this time the backyard and garden.  Then Jen and I put all the outside stuff away for the winter.  When I sat down on the couch after showering I may have fallen asleep for a few minutes.  I was feeling the weekend of early mornings, rides, yard work, and wind.  But grocery shopping and dinner still had to be done.  And it's Monday...

It's sprinkling this morning with on and off rain predicted for the day as the front and cooler weather moves in.  A good day off the bike.

Happy Week.
