Friday Weigh In...success.

Start: 198lbs
Last Week: 190lbs
Today: 185lbs

Well there's the proof, counting calories makes a difference. I know there are a few other variables that can have an affect (or effect? Eeee help.), but either way it's nice to finally make a move on the scale (in the right direction). I am happy with this weight. I don't think I want to make a move to 180lbs. When I was running a lot and not lifting at all I was about 175lbs. I don't think I need to be there. If it comes on it's own fine, but I want to eat at Bravo Burritos every once in awhile.

I have to admit that it was kind of fun counting calories in the beginning but now it has somewhat become a hinderance...to my eating! Sometimes I just want to grab a handful of this or that but think I would have to make sure to mark it down and decide to pass...too much work. I guess that is somewhat the idea.

I work at noon today so that usually means a 3 hour workout of some kind. I am a bit tired from the week so not too sure what I am going to do. I am leaning towards snowshoeing with Zoe.

Last night I stumbled upon this race: Chequamegon 100. It's a no entry fee, self supported ride/race in and on the 300 miles of trails of Chequamegon National Forest. Not knowing for sure if I would be able to commit to it I put my name in before it fills up...I'm in!!!! I have wanted a 100 mile endurance mtb race closer to home, the closest I found was in MI, some 11 hours away. I hope this works out for me.

Later...happy Friday.

Beeeee!

'effect' is a noun:

it produced the effect he was looking for.

'affect' is more variable and therefore more confusing:

I'm not going to let her indifference affect me
the end of that movie was very affecting
he was hard to read because of his flat affect

affect tends to deal with emotional states.

oh, and great work on the weight loss. and yes, if you don't count calories you will almost always underestimate

Yo Ben,

I just cut my meals by 1/3rd and don't count anything. Smaller bowl of cereal, 1/2 sandwich instead of whole, etc, etc.

Losing weight fast this way, but it's not scientific, which is nice.
