Last night a good crew from the Mid Minnesota Cycling Club, MMCC, met at Plum Creek in attempts to tame the trail. With the wet spring and recent warm weather the grass and weeds have gone crazy.
Focusing on just the overgrown grass, etc we set out with mowers and weed whippers. I had the big brush mower and even that at times struggled through the thick sections. I went through grass past my hip! Started at 5:30 and finished by 7:40! (In the past we had to work till dark or not finish) With time to left we carried an old dock section to one of the mud/water hole sections. Built it up with some cut up trees and have pretty good coverage.
The trail is very ridable and in pretty good shape. We were, however, unable to do anything about the mosquitoes and ticks...both in pretty good population. Ah, summer.
Tonight the Tuesday ride. It's going to be a hot one. Water stops will occur, but come prepared. Time to sweat it all out.
Later.
