"Left turn"
"What?"
"Next left."
"Right?"
"What?"
"Next right?"
"No, Left!"
"What?"
Most of the conversations, if you can call them that, went like this. It was the windiest conditions I have ever ridden in. Not only was it difficult to hear what was going on but it was hard holding a steady line. Since I broke a spoke I was using a set of Zipp 404's. I have to say I was very surprised how well they handled in the wind. They get my nod of approval.
Having a lot to do at work this week and the conditions for the Tuesday ride less than desirable I was on my way to backing out. But one by one more riders started to show up. Well, me being me, I couldn't let others ride without me so I kitted up and headed out. I think we may have had something like 10 riders.
The past two Tuesday's we averaged 21+ mph for 70 miles. This was not the case last night. We averaged 19.5 for 55 miles with, most likely, a harder effort than the previous Tuesday rides. We battled steady winds of 25-30 mph with gust up to 45 mph! Wicked windy it was!
I'm glad I went. It ended up being a pretty fun, memorable ride. Hell, Mike was even blown into the ditch and came out laughing! Good times.
Tonight is the 7 Wonders 10 Mile Time Trial. I put in a much harder effort than anticipated last night so my legs are a bit shot but it's just for fun and something different to do. Hope to see you out there. Let me know if you have questions, etc.
Later.
