Rainy Weekend.

After my post on Friday I headed downstairs to change into my cycling kit for a quick MTB ride.  As I was changing I heard it...the sound of rain.  Back upstairs I my eyes confirmed what my ears had heard.  It was raining, hard. Ugh.  So I changed into my work clothes and got an early morning in at work!

The rain was short lived and very spotty.  I was able to get a evening/night ride in at the North Loop.  It was slotted to rain all day Saturday so I really wanted to get on some dirt.  I planned for one loop but the trail was riding so good and once I had to click on my lights I was hooked.  Ended up with 3 laps and a huge smile.

Because of the Saturday rain the Off the Back Century was canceled.  Bummer for sure but it freed up a bunch of time on a rainy day.  Jen and I made a serious dent, once again, in our inventory data entry.  The end is now visible!  This week!

Sunday 5 of us (Charlie, Alex, Kris, Kyia, and myself) met up at Charlie's for a 100 mile gravel ride.  It was cool, windy, cloudy, and oh so humid.  We battled the NW wind for a long time.  Once we hit gravel we found that a day of rain makes for some soft roads!
I've said it before but once you hit gravel to the NW (it takes a bit to get there) it is some of the best, especially in Todd County.  Big hills, narrow roads, twisty, it was all there.  So fun.  We even found a two track dirt road riddled with huge puddles...good stuff.  We ended with 110 with a 18.9 mph average.  Riding with others has it advantages!

I pulled off a solid week of riding: 24 hours and 411 miles.  I have a short week at work.  I will get some riding in but the focus is inventory, getting the kids squared away for school, and chilling.

Time to get Monday started.
