The weather has me in a mental funk. Sure the warm weather feels ok but I'd so much rather have cold air, allowing for snow if it ever tried. It's almost December, in Minnesota, no more 50 degree days!
I almost bailed on riding last night. We were in a "red flag warning" till sunset. The winds were gusting to 40 mph. Gah! But I knew it would alter my attitude so I geared up after dinner, swung my leg over the fat bike, and pedaled into the darkness. The wind was still at that ridiculous level so I opted for dirt and such again. Near my folks house there is a gravel "track" (gravel road in a track shape) near the Mississippi that I don't think anyone really uses. I like to hit that up every so often. Not sure on the length but maybe .5-.75 miles or so? I think I did 6-7 laps without thinking. I like to refer to it as my trainer. If we don't get snow soon I may even do some damn intervals down there on the fat bike!
I did venture from my hamster wheel, meandering a bit on my way over to Friedrich Park and then the North Loop. Yes the Loop is back open. It's soft but ridable. It's actually a bit like riding on velcro right now, so it's good for mimicking snow I guess! Another ride at 1 hour and 15 minutes or so, like the day prior. I'll take it. Felt great to get out and flush out the depressants.
Unless plans change I hope to ride parts of the Dirt Bag tonight on the fat bike. 3-4 hours is the goal, depending on start time. Thursday I'm off and hope for a longer ride but I have to be at our house for a furniture delivery. Maybe moving in this weekend!!!
