We were having people over on Saturday and snow was scheduled to hit overnight Friday into Saturday so I figured I best get a ride in Friday after work. I did a version of the Briggs Lake route on the Salsa Cutthroat. No need for that bike but I'm really enjoying it right now so it's been getting the call up a lot. I left home a bit after 5. It was a bit chilly but not bad as the sun was out in full force. About half way through the ride clouds rolled in and my sun was gone. Brrr it got cold!
I foolishly hoped the snow would miss us but woke up to over 6". Blah. I was in a rather crappy mood while shoveling. Shoveling, cleaning, grocery shopping all took away the time I had to potentially ride before guests showed up. Not that I was super excited to ride but I wanted to ride nonetheless. Earlier in the week when I plotted out my ride schedule, in my head, I had Saturday as a big day. Despite not riding it was a great day with family, watching NCAA basketball.
The sun in March, now April, is pretty strong. The roads were dry and mostly clear Saturday afternoon. Sunday around 2 I headed out for a ride, again on the Cutthroat. I planned on some gravel but it was a bit too messy yet so I stuck to mostly paved roads. That west wind was brutal! But sure made for a fast trip home!
I wanted 15 hours on the week and managed a bit more than that. Goal accomplished. This coming Saturday is the Ragnorok 105 in Red Wing. They are slotted for a bit of snow today and a lot tomorrow with no real warm up. Ah Spring in Minnesota.
Happy Monday.
