Puppies and Rides.

Last Friday we picked up a puppy.  Jen had been looking for a long time, filling out applications, and waiting.  Apparently puppies are like toilet paper and bikes...hard to come by.  Finally we were first and able to get Toby.  He's a rescue and a mix of breeds.  We've had puppies before but damn the require a lot of work.  All fun...so far!
He's been sleeping through the night but once up, he's up.  So I've been getting up early but not to ride.  We started taking walks, which I really enjoy.  Not getting my morning rides in means afternoon rides, if I want to ride.  Mentally and physically I'm just not in it after work.

Yesterday I was able to bug out early from work.  I hung out at home for a bit before heading out on the Cutthroat.  From the start I just wasn't feeling it.  I know I usually come around but this was taking awhile. On top of that the gravel in Benton County was exceptionally nasty: soft and thick.  Even with the wider tires of the Cutthroat I was cutting through and washing out.  I pushed on to Gillman, where I finally started to feel better.  I pushed on a bit further North and West before turning for home.

Struggle Bus.

Of course both yesterday and today's mornings have been gorgeous.  Maybe I'll get out for a mountain bike ride tonight.  I haven't done nearly enough of that this year.

Happy Mid Week.
