Long Weekend.

Saturday the wind was listed as "light and varied"...my least favorite. Give me a direction so I have some direction on my route!  But truly there was nominal wind.  What wind there was seemed to be mostly from the West, so I made that my destination.  For whatever reason I've done this same route (more or less) a few times this year.  Never before had I pieced the roads together like this but now it just seems logical.  Because there was not much for wind I did take a few opportunities to deviate from the route and head back the direction I came from or add a loop that didn't make sense. All good and fun.

The Ride.

Saturday was a great weather day.  The sun was out, the air was dry, low winds, and mid 70's.  That afternoon we got some shaved ice.  Who'd a thunk sugar water and ice could taste so good?!

Saturday evening plans formed to visit Jen's Grandma in Little Falls and have dinner outside on Sunday. I rode there but not direct, I took the "scenic" route.  I headed South a tad, just to get out of town then made my way West for sometime.  When I did work my way North I was as far West as Freeport.  I headed North with a few more Western stretches for quite sometime.  I'm pretty good at judging time, distance, etc when I am doing a loop but a circuitous route is a bit harder.  When I figured it was time to head back East (tailwind) I was on par to run into Cushing.  From Cushing I hit Randall and over to Camp Ripley.  I pulled into Jen's Grandma's place at the same time as my family...timing!

The Route.

What a difference today is!  It's chilly.  A few days this week look to be in the upper 30's during my morning rides.  Whoa!
I'm back and forth on a ride today.  Originally I thought of doing a longer ride as the rest of the week, including my long ride day (Thursday), are filled with other things...like normal people.  But I'm a bit lazy this morning.  Drinking too much coffee is currently winning out.  I'm sure I'll ride, just not sure what yet.

Happy Labor Day.
