I didn't have my traditional Thursday off yesterday. With the kids and Jen home for Spring Break I didn't have to hang around to get Harper on the but either. Thus I was out the door pedaling the Nature Boy by 6. The wind wasn't crazy but already putting the flags at the city public utilities building at attention...out of the East.
Because it was still below freezing the gravel was great. Even with above freezing temperatures I bet the gravel I took would be fine. It appeared to be quite dry. I'm sure there are horrendously messy sections out there however.
I didn't have a ton of time so I kept the ride to 2.5 hours. It was perfect. Every cyclist needs to, every once in awhile, start rides in the dark and ride into the sunrise. I can't think of a much better way to start a day off with an upbeat attitude.
With our unseasonable warm weather the shop has been busy. A good busy, not in the weeds busy...yet. The bike shortage from last year continues into this year. Actually it will be worse. Same goes for repair parts and the like. At the moment we are still sitting good but a couple solid weekends and we could be depleted. I have 100's of bikes on backorder. They will continue to trickle in throughout the summer into fall/winter and next spring. Consumers that were looking for bikes last year are now coming in looking for bikes they couldn't get last time around. Man I hope we can fill the need! It's going to be a crazy, fast summer!
Happy Weekend. Get that bike out and ride...60's by Tuesday?!!!
