Spring in Minnesota sure is fickle. In a matter of days we went from record setting high temperatures to snow and high winds. I know it can and usually does happen but I don't like it any more or less. For me, Spring is the worst of the seasons.
Yesterday morning while letting Toby out I was hit in the face with a fat snowflake. The ground was covered. Not much, maybe 1/4", but enough. I took Toby for a walk as well. It was slippery as hell. The ride was put on hold. Finally around 9:30 the sun had mostly done it's thing and I was off on the single speed.
The wind was rough. It was a steady 18mph out of W/NW, with stronger gusts. Because it rained most of the day Wednesday and then snowed I stuck to mostly pavement. I took the River Road up to Little Falls. Then hwy 27 West to Dove Street. By this time the wind was mostly West so my tailwind was now more of crosswind. I altered directions, South or West, until I hit Freeport. There I jumped on the Wobegon Trail and sailed to St. Joseph and home. I did jump on a few gravel sections to avoid busy roads. These sections of gravel were exposed so all the snow was gone but it was rather soft and energy sucking.
